Dalgety, a brand created by Hannah Whisky Merchants

The business was founded by Gregor Hannah in 2012 and is best known for creating Lady Of The Glen bottlings. The company's philosophy is to find and hand bottle limited editions of casks from distilleries' surplus quality stock. Single malt from closed distilleries is also bottled. Hannah Whisky Merchants is located north of the Firth of Forth in Inverkeithing, Fife. The goal for the brand is to showcase quality small-batch whiskies, and it has taken its name from the local Dalgety Bay. Interestingly, the labels glow in the dark, referencing the nearby beach that can appear to glow at night. The first four releases were a Tormore 11-year-old, Tamnavulin 13-year-old, Craigellachie 12-year-old, and an Islay 12-year-old, all bottled in the summer of 2022. A mix of three separate casks was used for the Islay, and two casks for the Tormore, Tamnavulin, and Craigellachie.

An award-winning whisky is paying homage to its home in Dalgety Bay

Hannah Whiskey Merchants Ltd is based on West Way. The finest single malts are hand-bottled there before being exported around the world, and they've toasted their hometown with their latest brews.

Director Gregor Hannah said: "We are particularly proud to launch this new brand which really focuses on small batches and expresses our ties to the local area."

The company, which he started from his home in Inverkeithing in 2012, is an independent bottler producing the award-winning Lady of the Glen and St Bridget's Kirk small batch blends. The business is based on discovering the rarest casks, such as from recently closed distilleries or superior quality warehouses, and giving customers the opportunity to purchase from an extremely limited edition.

Once produced, the whiskey can be rehoused, as it takes on a different flavor when placed in a different type of cask. When they're ready - and Gregor has tasted them all himself before giving the go-ahead - everything is hand-bottled by a small team of four. Together with ambassador Paul McKendrick, he will carefully handpick casks from their portfolio to create unique small batches of single malt whiskey for each Dalgety release.

The business developed well with connoisseurs and whiskey lovers near and far eager to taste these products, with growing demand in the UK, a large market in Australia and it also exports to distributors in Belgium, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Canada and Sweden.

Gregor explained: “As single cask specialists for over 10 years with Lady of the Glen, it felt like the right time to try and blend casks together to create unique flavors within the framework of single malt whisky.”
