History

Their family’s distilling history began back in 1887 when Viktor was born. Seven years earlier, his father had founded his own distillery and cooperage, producing spirits and crafting barrels on a small scale. Viktor, sharing his father’s passion, learned the art of distilling and barrel-making from a young age. At 18, eager to explore the spirits aged in those barrels, he set out to discover the world and expand his knowledge of distilling. After gaining extensive experience, he returned home three years later to assist his family. His dedication to handcrafted spirits led him to produce his own, aging them in barrels he made himself. Staying in his hometown in the Black Forest, it took two more generations for the family to delve into the world of rum. To this day, three generations have followed in his footsteps.

The fifth generation had a unique dream – to craft a rum without any added flavors or sugar, influenced solely by nature and the barrels. This vision gave birth to El Ron del Artesano.

El Ron del Artesano is aged...

in specially selected barrels until tasting determines it is ready for bottling. It is neither filtered nor artificially colored, crafted from the best Panamanian rum barrels aging in their family’s warehouse. Bottling and labeling are done by hand, honoring the craftsmanship involved.

The label features Viktor, building a barrel, wearing his hat and beard, and smiling as he worked. El Ron del Artesano is a tribute to his life and work. Until his death in 1959, he infused this distillery with his ideas, energy, and passion, making this rum possible. Each bottling reminds you of his dedication and joy in his work.

El Ron del Artesano showcases the artistry of the cooper and distiller, with each bottling unique but always aiming for the highest quality. May your smile reflect Viktor’s and Sebastian’s as you enjoy this rum.

Warehouse

Their warehouse is home to over 400 casks, each patiently awaiting the perfect time to be bottled.

The warehouse is insulated by three meters of concrete and earth, ensuring a consistent temperature year-round and allowing for balanced aging. Natural humidity control maintains the barrels in an ideal climate for maturation.

Every bottling is meticulously selected by their team, guaranteeing that only the best reaches the bottle for you to enjoy.

They make no compromises in their cask selection, preferring to run out of stock rather than bottling anything they wouldn’t enjoy themselves.
