El Ron del Artesano Ruby Port Finish

Artesano 8 Year Ruby Cask Finish is part of the core range. It fully ripens in 8 years, as we do not use soleras. For the first 7 years it has been aged in ex-Bourbon casks, and after that time it has been further matured in a ruby cask from Portugal. No sugar is added, and we make sure to drain the casks well before adding the rum, so the sugar level is below 5g/L.

 

The aroma from the Artesano Ruby casks begins with wonderful fruity aromas that will remind you of cherries and prunes. After a while in the glass and with a little air, hints of vanilla and dried orange peel emerge.

 

On the palate, the Ruby barrel starts out soft, one might even say smooth and silky. The aromas of cherry and vanilla are still present, while new aromas such as toffee and cherry pie appear.

 

Right at the finish you realize you are drinking rum and the alcohol shows up for a moment, but it is well integrated and lies softly on the tongue.
